My Mind's Eye challenge

I created this layout for the My Mind’s Eye challenge.  I used the Breaking Free line by MME , which is an older line but it was perfect for this challenge!  I created the “fun in the sun” title on my Gypsy and then cut it out with the Cricut.  To add some depth to it I randomly added glitter.  Also with the cricut, I cut triangles using the Breaking Free paper; I added trim at the top of each triangle with Making Memories ribbon.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to add pictures to this layout because my printer is out of ink. I just hate when that happens.

Becky Fleck's card challenge

For this card sketch I used Teresa Collin’s on the edge paper, sentiment, and brad. I created the background using a plain white piece of cardstock, sprayed it with glimmer mist (charcoal) and crumbled the paper while it was wet. For the stars I had had some two toned chipboard stars that I painted black.
Here's the sketch:

Getting back into the swing of things

Well it’s been over a year since my last posting, and it's been eight and half months since Alyssa was born. Whose Alyssa you ask? She is my beautiful daughter!  Since her birth, it has been a little harder to scrapbook book, but I have managed to get a few pages completed.  Here are a few I have worked on recently.

Sketch Challange

Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration. I definitely needed some when it came to this layout. I've been carrying theses photos in my crop bag for almost a year now. The pictures are so fun I knew they needed a special design, I found that in this challenge. I flipped the sketch in order to make it look as if it were raining, and instead of raindrops I used upside down hearts because these two sisters have so much love for each other.

Papers and Exams

I've decided that blogging everyday is extremely hard! The past few weeks I have gone mad writting papers and studing for exams; all the papers are turned in and the exams are on Thursday. Finally, its summer!

Other great things have happened in the last few weeks. Brenin asked me to marry him and I said YES! We went hiking in Griffith Park on June 5. After we were engaged I asked some guy to take our picture. I know I'm hot and sweaty.

We are hoping to get married sometime in October, it will be a very small wedding here in CA and then we hope to have a reception back in the Cincinnati area with our friends and family.

Scrapbooking galore has been happening. For the past 5 weeks I have been able to get alot of pages completed and some other little projects finished. This comming weekend is CKC in Riverside, CA. I'm taking a few classes and plan to shop! While on the website this morning I noticed they added a CKC in Cincinnati in September. Hmmm MAYBE!

More tasty treats to add to our cook book of favorite recipies. Brenin made some tri-tip on the grill. We serve it with BBQ sauce.

Ok, so now I kind of filled in the blank spots in my blog. Hopefully I can get back on track. I cann't believe how hard it is to post every day! Until next time.

In a Napping House

Maya and Alex are always fighting. Alex will sit at the top of the stairs and Maya will want to come up, but Alex holds her ground; never letting Maya up. I often have to skitter Alex away so Maya can come upstairs too.
Today was one of those days. I let Maya outside and Alex sits at the paito door not allowing her to come back in. I must have had step in at least three times.
About an hour ago once again I hear barks from the guest bedroom. I walk in there an alex was asleep on the bed, the bed where Maya often lays to take her naps. So I put up a pillow and convience Maya it was ok to lay on the bed too, after all Alex was sleeping. An hour or two passes and I went downstairs to grab a drink and this is what I saw. In the words of Brenin "if only they could get alot like this all the time".
Isn't that the truth!

Chicken Fried Rice

Chicken Fried rice... Last nights dinner! I took a picture of last night dinner becouse I needed a photo for the day and this is one of the recipes going into my "favorites" cookbook. I can't remember where I picked this reciepe up but ever since we made it the first time it's been one of our favorites. It's fairly simple to make so its easy to whip it up during a week night. It also offers left overs so you can take it along the next day at work.
